Text messages from The Lanai
The Lanai is the private resident network for Ocean Club in Key Biscayne, Florida. It is not the condominium association or management. The Lanai is operated by Accelerate Advisors LLC.
What we text about
- Account and membership texts (residents who agreed): when a steward approves or cannot confirm your membership application. Anyone who matches the owner records and becomes a member on the spot gets only the confirmation text.
- Ocean Angels texts (residents who agreed): a new request that matches what you offer to help with, and when a request you posted or are helping with is accepted, completed or cancelled. They carry only the request type and a link; never the resident's own words, phone numbers, addresses or unit numbers.
- Community texts (residents who agreed): informational neighborhood news and free events. No selling or promotions. At most 3 a day.
- Steward notifications (only stewards who separately ticked their own steward box): a resident is waiting for membership review.
- One confirmation text right after you agree, and one reply to STOP, START or HELP.
No text goes out between 9 PM and 8 AM Eastern; they wait and go out at 8 AM. Only the confirmation text and the replies to STOP, START and HELP go right away, because the person just acted.
Sign-in codes are sent by email only, never by text.
How residents opt in
At https://oceanclub.us/join the resident enters their name, unit, cell and email. Below is a separate text-message checkbox that starts unchecked, with this wording:

Anyone who leaves the text box unchecked still joins and gets no recurring texts. Giving a cell number is not agreeing to texts. Members can also turn texts on or off on the Me page, shown with the same wording.
Stewards have their own separate box on their Me page, also unchecked. The resident box never counts as steward permission, or the other way round:

How to stop
To get texts again, reply START (or UNSTOP or YES), or turn them back on on the Me page, where the same wording is shown again.
Reply STOP to any text, or turn texts off on the Me page. For help reply HELP or write to notices@oceanclub.us. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
